Martin Gottlieb Cohen was born in the South Bronx somewhere on Simpson Street and went to a Yeshiva on East Broadway and Canal Street. He has lived in the South of Brooklyn and enjoyed the smell of percolated coffee at an early age, the South of Long Island where he found a diner that brewed coffee with chicory, The Southern Tier of Upstate New York Where he discovered whole bean coffee, The South of Manhattan where he was introduced to coffee beans from every part of the world, and finally South Jersey Where he can still get "Eight O’clock" whole bean coffee in the red bag.
