I have lived in Montreal, Florida, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., and mostly in New York. Presently, I am living in the Tokyo area where I am a Communication Specialist and spend countless hours at cafes. It was a dream of mine to study Japanese in Japan while enjoying the similarities and differences between the two cultures. Currently, I am developing my own website and when I have free time I enjoy sitting down with a cup of coffee and writing.

After carefully watching how Japanese people get seats in their very crowded cafes I felt somewhat confident that I could do it. I had to do it, for sitting down with a cup of coffee what my favorite past time. It was more than just a past time; it was a way of life.

It's very simple they put their belongings on one the chairs at the table. I was surprised to see this. No one in my hometown would ever consider doing this for the mere fact that it may not be there when they returned. But as I came to realize there is more to it than just putting your handbag or knapsack or even briefcase down claiming your newfound territory. I
