"When you read my words I want you to smell watermelon, and feel the cool juice dripping from your chin. I want you to see stars twinkle, and go back and read again to get that same feeling."

I fell in love with poetry when my middle school English teacher introduced us to poets such as Robert Louis Stevenson, Carl Sandburg and Louis Carroll. My favorite assignment was having to compile a booklet of poetry and giving it a title. We could be as creative as we desired, and were encouraged to illustrate it in whatever manner we chose. When that year ended, I was hopelessly and madly in love with the craft of poetry writing.

I wrote my first poems about 10 years later, and have been writing ever since. My first poem published was "Whisper Light," "Like a butterfly let me alight, onto the flower that is your life." My favorite poets are Robert Frost, Edgar Allen Poe, Elizabeth Barrett Browning and Edna St. Vincent Millay.
