Coffee on Your Palm

Editor's Note: All software questions should be directed towards the author, not INeedCoffee.

In the world of the home barista, there are many things to remember: recipes, how much coffee is left, when the espresso machine was last cleaned, and where good caramel syrup is cheapest. Things like this tend to float out of my head as soon as I find that something more urgent needs my attention. That, of course, comes back to bite me when I go to make myself a cup of coffee and I find that I have none of the ingredients I need, or that the steam wand is clogged.

In the interest of keeping all of the coffee and tea information in my life duly recorded, I did what any mildly-geeky coffee lover would do: I wrote a program for my Palm. It’s called Barista, and it keeps track of a Maintenance Log, a Drink List, and a Shopping List. It remembers how much of each product is left, sorts drinks by their main ingredient, and can beam recipes to another Palm running Barista.

Barista is freeware, and comes with sample recipes. It runs on any Palm-compatible organizer. The download is in the form of a .zip file which contains the application itself, three databases, and a readme. Installation instructions are provided in the readme. Have fun!
