El Rey is an American man whose true history resides in a stack of sealed legal documents. His studio is in a secret location somewhere deep in the bowels of San Francisco's colorful Mission District, home of the head-sized burrito and the 99c discount store. He began painting while in exile from his homeland of New York City and has participated in several exhibitions in San Francisco, usually involving low ceilings, shady patrons, and an almost subliminal, but palpable, sense of danger. Most of his works are ferverently executed in acrylic and ink on plywood, though he's recently begun a series of ink-and-watercolor studies of species unknown to man. He does commissions and custom art for any and all takers. His love for coffee, like the contents of his favorite mug, runs strong and deep. El Rey HQ is at www.elreydelart.com, and he is constantly online, thanks to a government-issue satellite uplink chip located in his forebrain. |
